This day was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex people and all others with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics. May 17th was specifically chosen to commemorate the World Health Organisation's decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.
In keeping with the theme, UNI Pride and PrideTT have joined forces to offer a platform for collaboration across the region and domestically, given the most recent tragic murder of Mark Anthony Singh, reminding us of all the lives we have lost over the years in a similar manner.
